Clean Fuel - Hydrogen (अंग्रेजी में)

Recently a technology to generate hydrogen fuel from water at low cost has been developed by researchers from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. This is an important step in the ongoing efforts to find cleaner and greener energy sources around the world. Hydrogen gas is a viable alternative to fossil fuels as a renewable alternative and can help reduce emissions to reduce pollution.

About Clean Fuel Hydrogen:-

 Researchers at IIT Delhi have successfully split water by a process known as the sulphur-iodine (SI) thermochemical hydrogen cycle (SI CYCLE) to generate low-cost, clean hydrogen fuel for industrial consumption. In general the separation of hydrogen from oxygen in SI CYCLE requires a higher amount of heating than non-renewable sources such as coal, oil, natural gas. This makes mass production of hydrogen gas economically unviable and environmentally friendly. The development of suitable catalyst designs as a corrosive step for the conversion of sulfuric acid to energy intensive, sulfur dioxide and oxygen has been an achievement.

Sulfur-iodine cycle process:-

The sulfur iodine cycle (SI CYCLE) is a three-step thermochemical cycle used to produce hydrogen. All chemicals are recycled in this cycle. The process of the sulfur iodine cycle requires sufficient heating.

 In the initial phase of heating, hydrogen gas enters the cycle of high temperature endothermic chemical reactions and in the final phase exits the limiting (low) temperature exothermic reaction cycle.

Three-Step Thermochemical Cycle:-

 Step 1: The reaction of iodide (I2) with sulfur dioxide (SO2) produces hydro iodide acid and sulfuric acid.

I2 + SO2 + 2H2O = 2HI + H2SO4

 Step II:- Water, SO2 and residual H2so4 are separated by decomposition of oxygen by condensation to obtain hydrodic acid.

2H2SO4= 2SO2 + 2H2O + O2

Third step:- Hydrogen gas is obtained from hydroxy acid (HI).

2HI = I2 +H2

The difference between the heat entering and exiting the cycle, the hydrogen produced exits the cycle as the heat of combustion. The major challenges of the sulfur-iodine cycle are reducing the surplus of water and iodine, and the separation processes, which use less energy than distillation. Traditionally the sulfur iodine cycle has been developed by many countries with fourth generation nuclear reactors to produce hydrogen.

Importance of discovery:

First:-

Promoting Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology:-   As a result of the availability of low cost hydrogen through this discovery, the application of hydrogen fuel cell technology will increase and improve, which can be used as a backup for electric powered vehicles, primary and various types of commercial systems. Provides the benefits of a clean and reliable alternative energy source in futuristic-sounding applications such as power, industrial and residential buildings and air taxis. A hydrogen fuel cell is an electrochemical generator that generates electricity by combining hydrogen and oxygen, using heat and water as by-products.

2. Supporting Emissions Target Adherence :- It can help India meet its commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement and the Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) target and ensure that future gold emissions are met. target can be achieved.

3 Supplement to FAME India Scheme :- This will complement the efficient implementation of FAME India Scheme launched with the objective of supporting the growth and manufacturing ecosystem in the hybrid/electric vehicles market.

Advantages of Hydrogen as a Fuel :-

First. Environmentally friendly : The advantage of using hydrogen as an energy is that when this hydrogen combines with oxygen, only water and heat are produced. Hydrogen The use of these cells does not generate greenhouse gases or other particulates.

2. Nontoxic: - Hydrogen is a non-toxic substance, which is rare for fuel source. It is eco-friendly and does not cause any harm to human health.

3 Highly Efficient - Hydrogen is an efficient energy form, as it has the potential to generate much more energy per pound of fuel than diesel or gas.

Ideally spacecraft fuel -   hydrogen energy efficiency and power is able to send it to an ideal intensity of rocket fuel Misnoँ enables source, which exploration spacecraft.

Disadvantages of Hydrogen as a Fuel: - Hydrogen lacks an odor compared to gas, which makes it almost impossible to detect any leaks. U Hydrogen is a highly flammable and volatile substance carried as a potential danger. and serious storage challenges are seen
